Abrahamic Progression And Pattern

  • Genesis: Chapters 12-24
  • We Progress Through These Stages To Arrive In A Place Of ABUNDANCE
    • Existing
    • Surviving
    • Striving
    • Thriving
  • Examples:  Abraham, Ruth, Esther, David, the Widow of Zarephath & Solomon

Step 1:  Receiving the Life of God

  • Proverbs 3: 5-6 NIV

5Trust in theLordwith all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

  • Acts 2: 14-21 NIV

14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.15These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.  Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.18Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. 19I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 20The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

Receiving means to Trust and Do. Simply put, it means to Obey God’s instructions!!!

To Accept and Practice.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

    • 1 Thessalonians 2:13 NIV
  • 13And we also thank God continuallybecause, when you received the word of God,which you heard from us, you accepted (received) it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

    • Hebrews 11:17-19 NIV
  • 17By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,18even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”19Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

  • John 20:21-22 NIV
  • 21Again Jesus said,“Peace be with you!As the Father has sent me,I am sending you.”22And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

  • Acts 2:41 NIV
  • 41Those who accepted (received) his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their numberthat day.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

We Do What We Receive, NOT Necessarily

What We Believe!!

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

The Danger of Not Receiving

James 1:5-8

5If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.6But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.7That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.8Such a person is double-mindedand unstablein all they do.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

Encouragement For Our Struggle to Receive

Numbers 23:19-20 NIV

19God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.  Does he speak and then not act?  Does he promise and not fulfill?  20I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

Encouragement For Our Struggle to Receive

Luke 21:33 NIV

33Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

Encouragement For Our Struggle to Receive

Isaiah 55:8-11 NIV

8“For my thoughtsare not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares theLord.  9“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10As the rainand the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seedfor the sower and bread for the eater, 11so is my wordthat goes out from my mouth. It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Step 2: Receiving the WORD of God

Encouragement For Our Struggle to Receive

1King 17:16 NIV

16For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.
